Watch for

  • The two size caps differ: statewide it is no more than 2 fish over 17 inches out of 12; on the Ohio River it is no more than 4 fish of 15 inches or longer out of 30.
  • Telling a white bass from a hybrid matters less here because they share one bag, but a striped bass counts against its own 2-fish limit. The guide's identification page says white bass have a single tooth patch on the back of the tongue, while hybrids have two that are joined.
  • Fishing from the Ohio River bank, you follow the rules of the state you are standing in. Within 200 yards below an Ohio River dam you may fish only with a pole or hand line.
  • These figures come from the 2026-2027 guide, which runs to March 31, 2027. We will re-check this page when the 2027-2028 guide is out.
