Indiana striped bass limits

Away from the Ohio River, Indiana lets you keep 2 striped bass a day and sets no minimum length. Hybrid striped bass are not in that bag. They share the white bass limit of 12 a day, with no more than 2 of those 12 longer than 17 inches. On the Ohio River main stem the shared rule is 30 a day of white, yellow, striped and hybrid striped bass combined, with no more than 4 fish 15 inches or longer.

Size ruleNo minimum length; no more than 4 fish 15 inches or longerThe statewide table's only striped bass footnote points here. Indiana and Kentucky honor each other's fishing licenses on the main stem, bank to bank. Within 200 yards below an Ohio River dam you may fish only with a pole or hand line.

Watch for

  • The two bags do not stack. A striped bass kept inland counts toward 2. The same fish kept on the Ohio River main stem counts toward 30, together with white bass, yellow bass and hybrids.
  • The guide's identification page separates them by the tongue: striped bass have two parallel tooth patches, hybrids have two patches that are joined, and white bass have a single patch. Hybrids also have a first stripe below the lateral line that runs to the tail.
  • Yellow bass have no statewide limit, but on the Ohio River they count in the 30.
  • The statewide table lists no other striped bass exception. Lake-specific notes in the guide cover bass, crappie and sunfish, not a separate striped bass minimum.
  • These figures come from the 2026-2027 guide, which runs to March 31, 2027. We will re-check this page when the 2027-2028 guide is out.
